I recently did a daytrip to Utrecht, to visit a friend who is studying there. It was a perfectly sunny day, so we strolled arounf the city and enjoyed the nice weather.

We had lunch at this cool restaurant called Seven. We sat outside on their patio and had lunch. Utrecht really has a great culinary scene and the cafés and restaurants seem on average bigger than the ones in Amsterdam. I had a sandwich with smoked salmon and it was delicious!

we were strolling through Wilhelmina park, which is surrounded by a very posh area to live in. The park itself is not that big but offers a lot of space for recreational activities.

Utrecht really is a very beautifully kept town, there was hardly any trash on the streets, which is rather prominent here in Amsterdam. It was great to get out from the big city for once and be amongst locals. The area around the Oude Gracht has many cute stores and little cafés with patio areas.

I would recommend going to Utrecht for a daytrip, maybe you could even do it in half a day, but I’m not the person to rush through. The city has multiple train connections to all the other major Dutch cities, so it is really easy to reach. The train station is right across a big mall, so even on a rainy day it’s worth the trip!
Have you ever been to Utrecht?
