Recently I got to spend an evening at the renowned Sky Lounge at Amsterdam’s Hilton DoubleTree with a friend of mine. As this location is mentioned in every single ranking of rooftop bars in all of Amsterdam I was more than excited to go!
The SkyLounge is situated in Amsterdam’s Doubletree by Hilton. You enter wither through their steakhouse or through the actual hotel entry. The hotel itself looks really neat and very international. If I was to do a weekend trip to Amsterdam I would love to stay there, as it is right next to Centraal Station.
The cocktails are really expensive, but I think the amount of money you spend is justified. The drinks are strong and you get a really big cup! Aside from that the service there is extremely fast and friendly.
What I particularly liked was that they didn’t really care that we looked like students, rather than their rich hotel guests who definitely sport a different look. This might sound very self-conscious but let’s be real. Certain places have a weird policy on what you should look like and will treat you accordingly… Luckily, this one was not one of them.
This place even has a terrace, which is definitely a nice spot in summer. When we went there it was extremely windy, so the only guests out there were smoker.
The only thing I didn’t really like was that you can’t make any reservations unless you are a group of twenty or more people (I don’t even know that many people). We had to wait like twenty minutes until we were offered a table, but honestly the view and the cocktails there were so worth it. I definitely think that I will go to SkyLounge again in the summer.
I am soooo looking forward to check out more rooftop bars and restaurants as the summer gets closer!
