The 5 Best Cafés in Amsterdam

One of my dearest hobbies during my time in Amsterdam was to try out cute little cafés (not coffeeshops, duh) with my friends. As there’s a whole abundance of sweet spots in this town I felt like a ranking of my favorite places was necessary. Here’s my favorite cafés in Amsterdam!

Pluk – Jordaan District

PLUK Amsterdam.

Pluk is notoriously known across Amsterdam as being the most girly, instagrammable place in town. The offer some really tasty cakes and great coffee. Pluk is situated in the really trendy Jordaan neighborhood of Amsterdam, meaning it is surrounded by loads of other cute cafés and boutiques. I wrote a blog entry about PLUK and you can find it here.

PLLEK – NDSM Werf

Pllek is in the Noord part of Amsterdam, right in the heart of the NDSM Werf. This place is made from old containers and offers a great view of the port. It is also one of the only cafés where you can go with a larger group of people as they offer a big seating area.

G’s in de Pijp.

I loved this place for brunch! They have a very American-inspired menu and their Eggs Benedict are honestly the best ones I’ve had in my entire life. I also went on their brunch boat, which they offer as well. I really loved it as it includes a full brunch and a boat ride through Amsterdam.

SkyLounge – Hilton Rooftop near Centraal Station

Ok, I know this technically doesn’t qualify as a café but technically they do serve coffee there too and I felt like it needed a worthy mention in this post. SkyLounge offers the best views of the city and going up the elevator is free. The terrace is really great during sunny days and their cocktail menu is like twenty pages long.

Drinksss.
Dignita Hoftuin

This place is honestly such a hidden gem in busy Amsterdam. Dignita Hoftuin is situated in the inner courtyard of the Hermitage and is a peaceful little spot to enjoy brunch and coffee at. I really enjoyed their Eggs Benedict, which are served on some crunchy hashbrowns.

Final Verdict

Amsterdam offers lots of cute spots to have a coffee and snack at, sometimes it can even be a little overwhelming to strangers. However, it takes just a little exploring to find spots that are not exactyl tourist traps and hyped on TripAdvisor and Co. (Yes, I also checked those out and was not too impressed. You know exactly which ones I’m talking about.) So I hope my little list of places I enjoyed was a good start to your journey through Amsterdam!
